AQUASCAN TM3's international launch took place at the 25th edition of the EXPOAPA25 exhibition, at the Klarwin booth, marking a landmark moment for the digitalization of water infrastructure in Romania and the region.
An efficient solution for a systemic problem
While most water loss monitoring efforts focus on distribution networks, the major losses — and the most costly ones — often go undetected in transmission and transport networks. These pipelines, with large diameters and high pressures, carry significant volumes of water over long distances and are not regularly checked, because the solutions available until now were either inefficient or impossible to apply.
In Romania, water losses in the network exceed 40% of the total pumped volume on average, and in some areas can reach over 50%. Transmission and transport pipelines, although rarely monitored, contribute significantly to this gap. Aquascan TM3 addresses exactly this systemic challenge, offering a scalable, quick-to-deploy, and precise solution for detecting hard-to-find leaks.
The new generation of real-time correlators for large-diameter and plastic pipes
AQUASCAN TM3 is a completely redesigned real-time correlator with superior performance in leak detection on large-diameter pipelines over long distances. The new generation of True Sound Sensors (TSS), with a diameter of just 50 mm, offers ten times greater sensitivity to leak sounds, correlating the signal quickly and precisely even in difficult conditions.
The compact and robust design allows easy insertion of sensors into existing chambers without invasive works. For plastic pipes, sensors can be connected to hydrophones for increased accuracy and are equipped with USB-C ports for fast charging and secure communication. Dual-mode radio transmission (analog + digital LoRa) enables efficient sensor control and reliable real-time signal transmission in the field.
AQUASCAN TM3 operates through a specially developed Android application that integrates all known functions from previous Gutermann systems, as well as new dedicated features: for plastic pipes, for transmission and transport pipelines such as the Trunk Main mode with specialized correlation, Auto Filter function for frequency adjustment, and automatic upload to Gutermann Cloud.
The fully secured cloud platform enables integration of all measurement points and Gutermann equipment, offering Google Maps display, Street View, predictive analysis, alarm history, and a centralized, easy-to-use interface. The platform can be accessed from any device, enabling continuous real-time water network management.
By integrating Aquascan TM3 into its portfolio of solutions for the municipal sector, Klarwin strengthens its partnership with Gutermann and reaffirms its commitment to introducing the most advanced technologies in water infrastructure in Romania and the region. It is a solution that perfectly complements the systems already available in the portfolio, such as ZoneScan AI for distribution networks, ensuring complete monitoring — from source water intake to the end consumer.
